LA begins issuing phase 2 marijuana business licenses

On January the city of Los Angeles began to issue phase 2 business permits. So far the city has authorized 34 applicants for nonretail commercial cannabis activities, with licenses going to growers, edibles makers, and other nonretail companies that have played a part in the city’s marijuana industry. The city received nearly 600 applications during the application window from August until mid-September of last year, and is still in the process of reviewing 400 of them. The first round issued permits last year to longstanding retailers that had been in operation since 2007 or earlier. The city expects to continue with Phase 3, which does not require past business history in the city and is open to all comers, beginning in spring 2019.
